Cleaning A Closet Was A Game Changer!
Hello! And welcome to A U R A B Y O R A, the personal portfolio of Ora Simcha Hadassah. I am an artist in love both with watercolor renderings and the vibrant colors and auras of alcohol inks.
Until a little over one year ago I had never heard of alcohol inks before. Watercolors, yes. Oil paints and acrylics, yes. Gouache, pencil, charcoal, sure. But AI’s?
Fate kicked in big time while I was cleaning out a closet (of all things!) when I spotted some forgotten art work by my kids who had visited for the holidays and who had now returned to their homes in Israel, Switzerland, and Germany. The art work depicted some standard black ink which, by the looks of it, had been blown all over the cardboard (by way of a straw, as my kids later confirmed, and to the point of them coming close to fainting from the extreme effort). I was intrigued, and googling “blowing ink” I discovered—and instantly fell in love with—the amazing world of AI’s.
Four dozen YouTube tutorials later I was sold, hook, line, and sinker. And once my overnighted AI colors arrived, I was obsessed, locking myself away in my little studio, creating piece after piece. I couldn’t stop. I didn’t want to stop. And with my creations quickly becoming more refined, it wasn’t long before I began experimenting and developing techniques of my own.
Alcohol inks are fantastic fun and extremely versatile,and their unpredictable temperament makes them the perfect medium for abstract paintings. This said, if you are more into detailed fine art, you will not be disappointed in AI’s as they can and will deliver, in their unique way.
